A Guide To Internet Memes

Memes are skills, habits, songs, stories, or any other kind of information that is copied from person to person. The term was coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book The Selfish Gene.

A meme can experience variation and mutation; they can become extinct or they can evolve with society. An internet meme, on the other hand, is an idea that spreads quickly via, you guessed it, the internet. It's the 'viral' in a viral video.
